Liam Sullivan was hired as the Director of Marketing here at Caring Bees Healthcare in August 2021. We took the time to interview Liam to gain better insight to what led him to where he is today. Liam Sullivan attended Coastal Carolina University for his undergraduate degree in Marketing and continued his education at the University for his MBA in HealthCare Administration. Liam stated “I loved my time at Coastal Carolina University. I had grown up in a small town called Ipswich, Massachusetts and always loved making connections with people and the phycological aspects of advertising. I wanted to challenge myself and move somewhere I didn’t know much about and make new connections. I knew the study of marketing was a passion of mine and I decided to pursue it as a career”.
During his undergraduate years Liam worked while attending Coastal Carolina, working as a sales representative for a startup retail company Dapper Joe, and later on a time-share salesman for the Marriott. “As a freshman I took a job as a sales representative at Dapper Joe, and it turned out to be a life changing experience. I was empowered to create sales scripts for myself and fellow colleagues, gained experience in creating lasting relationships with clientele, and became very comfortable with the art of cold calling. Later on, in my junior year I started working with the Marriott selling time shares. This experience prepared me for face to face business interactions and the ability to identify which package matched a specific customer. There is a saying in the industry that If you can sell time shares, you can sell anything!”
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Liam decided to continue his education at Coastal Carolina University to pursue and MBA in HealthCare Administration. “When I graduated, we were in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, and there was a lot of uncertainty going on in the workforce. I had lost my mother at a young age to breast cancer and I always thought it would be cool to make a difference in the Healthcare industry in her honor. So, after some consideration I decided to pursue my MBA.” During his education in the MBA program, Liam worked as a graduate assistant for the graduate studies department. “Being a graduate assistant was very beneficial while pursuing my MBA, I created a new testimonial page for the University, created and edited content for social media platforms, and gained experience with using a variety of CRM systems.”
After graduating Liam decided he would move back home to Massachusetts and found himself searching for Marketing positions in the HealthCare industry. “I knew I wanted to move home because all of my family and friends still reside here. Plus, I just love the state of Massachusetts and the city of Boston, which is a city known for providing great healthcare services”. During his job search Liam found an opening for Caring Bee Healthcare and thought he would be a great fit. “I had a few offers on the table but I was really intrigued by the opportunity to apply my skills here at Caring Bees. Meeting the COO Alka Swarup I could see she had a great understanding of the industry as a whole, and really had a good handle on how to maneuver the operations. I also saw plenty of opportunities to help have an impact in building the Caring Bees brand, so I decided to join the team”.
After three months of working for Caring Bees Healthcare as the Director of Marketing, Liam is already having an impact. “When I accepted this position, we only had 4 Google reviews , today we have 28. Also, since I’ve taken over our social media outlets, we’ve had an increase of 2,000% in both accounts reached and accounts engaged. I am still in the early stages of the strategy put in place, but we are off to a great start. When asked about his time at Caring Bees thus far, Liam stated “I’m loving my time here at Caring Bees. The staff is incredible, and I have learned a lot about the home healthcare industry in a short amount of time. I’m looking forward to future accomplishments I believe we can reach, and striving for improvement each day!”
